Airtightness testing, also known as Air Permatility testing, measures the amount of uncontrolled draughts through holes or cracks in the building envelope. These draughts contribute to heat loss from the building, and insufficent or poor quality draught seal around windows and doors is a typical example of where this can occur.

Air tightness testing can prove that a dwelling meets specific
Building Regulation Standards - EN 13829 in air permeability.

From the 1st July 2008 all dwellings applying for planning
permission were required to meet a specific air permeability
standard. This standard has now been revised in the
new Building Regs. 2011 Part L and will mean buildings will
now have to be constructed to a higher standard than ever before.

We will test both new or old houses and provide advice on
how to improve the airtightness of your home.

We will use the renowned Retrotec Blower Door system to carry out the airtightness testing. By depressurising/pressurising your house, it is possible to quantify the amount of airleakage taking place.

As part of our Airtightness Testing service, we will provide you with an advisory report highlighting to you ways of improving the airtightness of your dwelling.

This service can be combined with your BER certification to give you a more accurate energy rating for your home.
